Easter Triduum Retreat
This retreat begins with supper on Holy Thursday and ends with breakfast on Easter Sunday. The liturgies of the Lord’s Supper, Way of the Cross, Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion, Easter Vigil and Sunrise Easter Liturgy are celebrated. A series of conferences on various topics are conducted throughout the weekend. Private accommodations and all meals are included.
Thematic Retreats
The OLPH staff also offers weekend retreats on various themes throughout the year. For examples, see Schedule of Events.
Emmaus Retreats
Give yourself the gift of time away from the distractions of your daily routine to listen to Jesus and the Holy Spirit in an environment of sincere faith, fellowship and worship. This retreat is based on the Gospel of Luke 24:13-35 in which Jesus joins two disciples on their way to Emmaus. It begins with a short course in Christianity, comprised of talks by laypersons on the themes of God's grace, the disciplines of Christian discipleship, and what it means to be Catholic. The retreat is wrapped in prayer and meditation, worship, sharing and celebration of the Eucharist.
Cursillo Retreats
In these retreats, the Cursillo Movement is introduced over a three-day weekend, which begins Thursday evening and ends Sunday evening. A team of religious and laypersons present a series of talks, and the group calls upon the Holy Spirit for enlightenment and guidance. The team and candidates live as a small Christian community during the weekend and discuss these talks in a small group setting. The discussions offer an opportunity to share their insights about the presentations and hear how others received that same presentation. The talks and discussions cover a variety of topics including:
Throughout the weekend the participants pray together, attend daily Mass and have an opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. By the end of the weekend, candidates typically have a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and a better understanding of the power of the Holy Spirit. Candidates also leave the weekend knowing that they have been called to spread the Word of God.
Matt Talbot Retreats
A Matt Talbot retreat is for people of all faiths and is an opportunity for recovering alcoholics to enhance their spirituality and sober way of life. A retreat leader, who is usually a recovering alcoholic and trained in spiritual matters, gives conferences on various topics several times during the weekend, bringing valuable insights into the spiritual elements of alcoholism. The Matt Talbot retreat is private and everything is confidential.
